Baby Rix

The story of baby Rix, a great beginning to a great life ahead.

It all started with the splits. Not really. We just wanted to see if I could still do them 9 months pregnant. Two days later, my water broke after eating a brownie sundae. There must be something about brownies and child birth for Cyndi, my water broke with brownies for Ella's labor too.

6 hours later...

Sorry if this is too graphic. Jed is cutting the cord.

Getting cleaned up and weighed.
We were right. He was a BIG boy. 9lbs 1.6oz. and 22 inches long. The doctor and nurses just kept saying Wow.

Our sweet baby Rix had arrived. Healthy and perfect with reddish hair.
Now it was time to bond with our big little guy.

Favorite Newborn pictures of Rix:

Meeting big sister Ella. The hospital has a policy during flu season about no one under 18 years old being allowed on the nursery level of the hospital and we couldn't take Rix to the hospital lobby, so Ella didn't meet Rix until we came home.

She was all smiles and love.

Ella and Rix exchanged new sibling gifts.

She really does love her new baby.

Grandma Davis, aka Grandma Angel, took care of little E.

Rix and Grandma.

This was Ella's favorite baby toy and now she's sharing it with Rix. We're already working on the "only kiss the head" precaution. Then we had some firsts...

First Bath

First basketball shot. Jed says he already has a great natural follow-through.

The big event of blessing Rix brought out Grandpa Davis and Neal's family. It made all the difference to share this first big spiritual step with loved ones. The priesthood circle included Jed, Grandpa Davis, Neal Davis and Bishop Nelson. Rix was officially named Rix Carlson Nordfelt and was given a beautiful blessing by his dad. It spoke a lot about his capacity to love as the Savior and we can already feel that in our home. He truly has a big, strong spirit. When you hold him you just feel a pure love.

Hampton and Aunt Kerrie holding Rix after the blessing.

The whole Neal and Kerrie Davis clan. This is a neat family!

Grandma and Grandpa Davis. We think the reddish hair comes from Grandpa Davis' father. So Rix is named after both grandmothers using their maiden names Ricks (Rix) and Carlson. Then there's the physical resemblances of both grandfather's. Rix has quite a heritage and a lot of love surrounding him.

Here's our happy family. We're so excited to add this little boy to our crew. Life just keeps getting better.

Yay for pictures!! We're so happy to see that big guy up close. We have been thinking about you all and wishing we could have been there for the blessing. Rix looks just perfect. The pictures are great- did you take them Cyndi? And Ella- oh Ella! You are absolutely gorgeous and growing into such a big girl! You all look fabulous. I love the idea of a "new sibling gift."
We miss and love you all so-o-o much. . .

Okay, so we just sat and ooohh'd and aaahhh'd over each and every picture. I was actually just thinking today that I hope you put pics on the blog soon. Then tonight we were just sitting down to watch a movie and Shawn asked if I had seen your blog. Now 30 minutes later we are done staring at each picture. We're just WISHING so badly we could be there to see you all and welcome Rix into the fam. We love you guys so much and miss you. Cyndi, you look fabulous! I told Shawn that you don't look like you just had a baby a few weeks ago. Jed, you're looking good too, little bro! Did you win the competition? And little Ella, you look like such a perfect little princess! I love your beautiful face!!! We love and miss you guys!

Oh! Shawn thinks we saw the "White Cloud" last night! It brought back great memories!

I love all the pictures. He is so adorable! I am sad we still haven't seen him but being as I have never ending cold/allergies I figured I would wait so that I don't pass anything along. Hope you are doing all right and enjoying that beautiful baby!

He's beautiful Cyndi!!! Good job on writing all the details in words and pics. Love that you had Ella exchange presents with Rix - we did that with Bella and it really made a difference. Can't wait to meet him - when I finally feel better. :(
